I developed this custom illustration series in collaboration with La La Land to capture the sweetness and charm of five Australian native animals through softly rendered and highly detailed artwork. Inspired by a newborn photography trend, each illustration features a sleeping baby animal including a koala, kangaroo, wombat, dingo and Tasmanian devil gently nestled in a bed of native flowers.
These illustrations have since also been licensed for fabric metreage for fabric wholesaler Two Green Zebras and a collectible coin series for The Perth Mint.
Each piece was drawn entirely in Photoshop from scratch, starting with a loose sketch and gradually adding a soft, painterly finish to bring these irresistibly cuddly native Australian animals to life.
As a part of the fabric release, the original illustrations were adapted into a series of surface pattern designs and fabric panels for sewing and crafting. The versatility of the artwork has made it a popular choice across different markets, delighting Australian consumers with beautiful locally illustrated themes.
