Wow! What a wonderful result. The auction for the Mali in the City event was held last Thursday with an amazing display of painted elephants and generosity from bidders. The whole event raised over $450,000 which will go towards the conservation efforts of the Melbourne Zoo. My elephants sold for $5,500 and $9,000 so I’m pretty happy with a total $14,500 being raised for the zoo by the two elephants I painted. I have been contacted by one of the buyers and the other is known by a friend so I’m also really happy to hear that they have both gone to good homes.Read More

On Wednesday night the Melbourne Zoo hosted a gathering of the 50 painted elephants, artists and sponsors for a “sneak peek” to celebrate the upcoming launch of the Mali in the City public art event. My second elephant ” Here today … ” for the Mali in the City event is finally finished! I’ve lost track of how long it took me but it took longer than “Elephantasy” because of the higher level of detail and more realistic approach. These are my submissions to the Mali in the City art project being organised by the Melbourne Zoo. 50 life-size fibreglass sculptures will be painted by local artists and spread around the city for a 6 week period.
