Hop for Hope is a collaborative art exhibition showcasing 40 larger-than-life fibreglass kangaroos decorated by iconic Australian artists and identities. The kangaroos will be showcased at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery before being auctioned to raise funds for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation– a charity raising funds to project children from violence and bullying. I am honoured to be one of the artists working on this project and I currently am in the midst of preparing my concept for the hands-on painting phase which will take place over the next couple of weeks. I enjoy creating graphic part of the logos, there’s something about the challenge of creating a visual metaphor in a simple way that is quite appealing (although equally frustrating at times!).Read More
Today I attended the “You Show Me Yours and I’ll Show You Mine” event held by the Australian Society of Authors. The event invited illustrators from all fields to share and view samples of each other’s work. We also discussed some of the hot topics that seem to always come up in illustration conferences such as prices, contracts and whether to specialise or diversify. There was a turnout of about 12 people which I thought was a nice number, not too few but few enough to get everyone joining in the conversation.Read More
