Hop for Hope is a collaborative art exhibition showcasing 40 larger-than-life fibreglass kangaroos decorated by iconic Australian artists and identities. The kangaroos will be showcased at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery before being auctioned to raise funds for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation– a charity raising funds to project children from violence and bullying. I am honoured to be one of the artists working on this project and I currently am in the midst of preparing my concept for the hands-on painting phase which will take place over the next couple of weeks. Wow! What a wonderful result. The auction for the Mali in the City event was held last Thursday with an amazing display of painted elephants and generosity from bidders. The whole event raised over $450,000 which will go towards the conservation efforts of the Melbourne Zoo. My elephants sold for $5,500 and $9,000 so I’m pretty happy with a total $14,500 being raised for the zoo by the two elephants I painted. I have been contacted by one of the buyers and the other is known by a friend so I’m also really happy to hear that they have both gone to good homes.Read More

On Wednesday night the Melbourne Zoo hosted a gathering of the 50 painted elephants, artists and sponsors for a “sneak peek” to celebrate the upcoming launch of the Mali in the City public art event. My second elephant ” Here today … ” for the Mali in the City event is finally finished! I’ve lost track of how long it took me but it took longer than “Elephantasy” because of the higher level of detail and more realistic approach. I’m so glad to be done, now I can sit back and wait for the other artists to finish and the elephants should be out in the city shortly after I get return to Victoria!Read More
