MYTHICAL CREATURES COIN SERIES

The Mythical Creatures coin series consists of five 1oz silver coins each showcasing a different mythical beast. I designed and illustrated this series for Coin Club Australia (now Australian Gold and Silver Exchange). It was a challenge to create a new design considering the inherent constraints that come with coin design. There are limited finishes that can be applied to the metal and the colour print is a small size. I was happy with the resulting coin illustrations though; the coloured creatures stand out against the polished silver background which in turn stands out against the detailed background illustration. The medieval style banner and border elements were frosted on the coin, providing a interesting frame to the design.
