Below is some more information on this design from the Coin Club website:

DESIGN
The coin’s reverse portrays a coloured dragon guarding piles of treasure including coins, a crown, a chalice and jewels. A medieval style banner displays a silhouette of a dragon and the monetary denomination, with the inscription ‘dragon’ featured on a scroll at the base of the design. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen ElizabethII and the 2014 year-date.

DRAGON
According to ancient mythology, the dragon resembles a great winged serpent with an armoured hide. Believed to be the most powerful creature on Earth, Asian civilisations tell of a legendary creature revered for its nobility, wisdom and spiritual significance, while European and Middle Eastern folklore portrays the dragon as a fearsome predator with prowess, magical powers and a lust for treasure.
