This month the Perth Mint launched its Dreaming Downunder silver coin series featuring my illustration of a sleeping kangaroo curled up in a nest. The illustration is part of a series of cute Australian animals sleeping in nests surrounded by beautiful native flora and roses.

The first release in this coin series is the kangaroo, curled up asleep and looking as snug as can be, surrounded by banksias, waratahs and other native flowers along with lush roses. To the side, a little Golden Whistler bird watches over the dreaming joey.

These illustrations were initially created in collaboration with La La Land for their series of homewares and greeting cards and have now been adapted under licence into beautiful keepsake coins for The Perth Mint. The Perth Mint is known for coins of outstanding quality and this series is sure to compliment their diverse range of beautifully illustrated Australian-themed coins. I think they would make especially gorgeous keepsake treasures for new babies and mums.

The Perth Mint will be releasing the other animals throughout 2021, creating a collectible set of five different animals. Only 5,000 coins will ever be minted of each design.
