The fifth and final coin of the Bush Babies II coin series I illustrated for The Perth Mint has finally been released. This release features a chubby wombat baby printed in colour on a 1/2 oz silver Australian Legal Tender coin.

In addition to the silver coin releases, the illustrations are also available as Australian postage stamps and coin and stamp sets.

Below are some images of the new silver wombat coin.

Below is the coin description from the Perth Mint’s Website:

AUSTRALIAN BUSH BABIES II – WOMBAT 2013 1/2oz SILVER PROOF COIN

The coin’s reverse depicts an irresistible coloured image capturing the uniqueness and charm of a beautiful baby wombat. As well as The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the design features a friendly Australian insect and delicately frosted representations of Australian bush flowers.

The final release in the Australian Bush Babies II series depicts an adorable baby wombat.  The wombat is a marsupial native to Australia.  Despite its fearless nature, the creature has a short-legged muscular frame, which causes him to move slowly.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, with a large 36mm diameter, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
